have a seat.

vaness and i went for a pleasant little run this morning and then treated ourselves to tartine. saw this lonely little chair on the way and decided i needed to give him some love.

the friday five on friday.

it's friday. i have the day off. and there are all sorts of exciting things starred, waiting for action. imagine that. here you go, kids. five blog posts i think you'll love this week.

1.
before & after: a chair, a fridge and a closet, from design*sponge. i might be obsessed with chalkboard paint, especially when it's used in creative and unexpected ways. like a REFRIGERATOR! bananas.

2. display ideas: polaroid on a string & more, from apartment therapy.

3. paul barbera encore, from desire to inspire. i think if it came down to it, i could be forced to live here. amazing art.

4. DIY: happy jars, from heart handmade and kelly wilkinson.

5. an engagement on the river, from jose villa. gorgeous. absolutely gorgeous.

work it.

i've been craving a revived workspace, well, for a long time. see picture below. taken in march. this is what happens when i run out of room on my desk. paper, stickers, envelopes scissors, bills, and pens, end up on my bed. not exactly efficient for working or sleeping.

so when kate bingaman-burt's new workspace pictures popped up on my google reader this morning, i was re-inspired to re-vamp my workspace. not sure when i'll have time, but a renovation is definitely in the back of my mind. check out kate's new bright orange space!

cozy neck wear.

i love scarves. love. LOVE. there's a certain comfortable nature about having something around your neck, whether it be a big collar, a chunky knit scarf, or one of these sublime numbers from meilleur ami. in the words of rachel zoe, i die. (via cool hunting).

indiglo.

my watch battery died a few weeks ago. i could have bought a new battery. instead, i bought this watch. it took me a while to pick out a color, then i was a little skeptical of the blue. after a few hours, though, i was pretty sure i was in love with this little turquoise number. meet my new timex.

neopan 1600.

i ordered this fantastic film ages ago (expired fuji neopan 1600) and i've slowly been using it up. this roll dates back a year and a half, which made getting it developed that much more exciting. here are a few highlights.

take me to OZ.

i've been helping matt and geoffrey with their flyer for their 5th yoga retreat coming up november 6-9 at OZ farm in mendocino. this has really rekindled my longing to move to a farm, set up a nice big barn studio, grow food, live simply. you can view the informational PDF here and browse my photos from the spring retreat here and read about how awesome geoffrey is here.

a good run.

i just started training for my second half-marathon in healdsburg, CA (sonoma county) on halloween. when amanda and i randomly signed up a couple weeks ago, i was NOT inspired. just didn't really feel like running. in the past week, though, running has proven to be my savior. i am working too much and time is tight, so forcing myself to run was challenging at first. it took me a few days to get back in the groove, but now i'm thirsty for more. i can zone out. or i can think about things. i can people watch. enjoy the view. take a break. running for me right now is awfully open ended, in a very lovely way.

the little shuffle has been playing some appropriately random tunes for my wide ranging thought patterns. here's what took me zig-zagging along guerrero and dolores, up 16th to noe, back towards 20th up some hills and hidden stairways, through dolores park and back to the house:

1. talk like a stranger (deepsky) - armin van buurin
2. fade into you - mazzy star
3. down by the river - neil young
4. 7/4 (shoreline) - broken social scene
5. close to me - the cure
6. street walkin' - dan auerbach

late summer dinner.

i felt compelled to take a photo of this delicious, simple, fresh pasta i whipped up the other night (this is me patting myself on the back). rigatoni + matt's fresh pesto + heirloom tomatoes + red onion + buffalo mozzarella = one tasty dinner.
